Differences Between Hamlet And King Claudius - 745 Words

In the story Hamlet by Shakespeare, Hamlet and his uncle, King Claudius, come across as the two main characters that cause the most conflict. Due to the murder of former King Hamlet, Hamlet debates on whether suicide is the only way to cope with the death of his father, until he later finds out his uncle, current king, and step-father is responsible for his father ÃŒ s death. Hamlet and the new King then plan for each others death, which takes a turn for the worst. The differences and similarities between these two characters are pronounced, and they deserve thorough examination. He is strictly only worried about what benefits him the most. Toward the end, he tries to get rid of Prince Hamlet because he realizes Hamlet is a problem towards his elegant life. Claudius says in the text, â€Å"Do not delay. He must be out of here tonight† (Act 4, Scene 3). Although, his villain qualities are very strong, the love he has for Queen Gertrude seems real and sincere. Due to many betrayals the king did, Hamlet had it out for him, which soon led to the death of way more people than needed. The similarities between these two characters of Hamlet, is that they both truly feel for Queen Gertrude. Despite the hate they have each other, the love for the queen for the both of them stay sincere. They also are very manipulative, as in how Hamlet made everyone believe he has gone crazy and Claudius had fooled everyone on what had really happened with the death of his brother. On the contrary , Claudius is very selfish and Hamlet is selfless. King Claudius strictly only cares about what benefits him, although Hamlet does not care about benefits him the most. There Are Two Types of People

There Are Two Types of People There are two types of people born everyday. These types of people are either male or female. In some parts of the world, the difference between these two types of people defines the role each will play throughout their lives. The male person is usually the larger boned of the two types of people. Biologically, he is typically the more physically stronger than the average female. Growing lists of medical facts distinctively gender related reveal differences in how these two types of peoples’ brains work differently. Gender based findings provide the main differences between the way these two types of peoples’ brains do work. Male Brains Men, contrary to some incorrect beliefs do not have a larger brain than women – but it is distinctively made of harder stuff making them very hard headed. This is especially true when it comes to asking directions when they are lost. Rather than admitting they are lost they will even comment when told to ask for directions, â€Å"No this is an adventure†. That comment makes some sort of primal sense because modern man evolved much too quickly becoming civilized and having no longer the â€Å"need† to hunt to be the brute not that long ago protecting his cave and the tribe. It is this sense of no closure from the advances of civilization ripping him from his primal environment. It makes perfect sense. At the top of the brain is a golf ball sized portion dedicated to functioning around sports involving the use of a ball and is only outsized by the portion of the brain dedicated to dangerous pursuits. Nearly overtaking the area where the medulla oblongata is located is a large region of this type of person’s brain where addictions center and is easily stimulated by TV and RF remote controls. In the frontal lobe where human attention abilities function, unfortunately, in men this gender based characteristic is at best, extremely underdeveloped and lies right next to the barely identifiable region used for listening. The largest portion of the male brain that has little change since the long ago migration from the cave into human dwellings, communities, cities, and nations is the part of the brain controlling domestic skills. Interestingly enough the smallest distinguishable region of the male brain is the pin-sized portion sitting just before the large domestic skills region called toilet aiming capacity. Female Brain The largest distinguishable portion of a female brain is located in the center and I called the headache generator. Toward the frontal area of a female brain and only slightly smaller than the headache is the box shaped portion dedicated to the passion of shoes. Strongly gender based and only identifiable in the female brain is this fashion sense portion of any aged female brain. Like the male counterpart of these two types of people the smallest portion of the female brain having to do with the toilet is the pinhead sized area functioning as toilet cleaning ability. An egg-sized shaped portion of the female brain located center and top just underneath the skull is the impulse shopping part. Adjacent to and just back of the impulse shopping part of the female brain is a large section completely dedicated to remembering anniversaries and birthdays. Interestingly, this ability does not exist anywhere in a male brain. Another relatively large portion of the female brain located atop the medulla oblongata is the gossip control portion of the female brain. While this is normally found no where in the male brain, new research in the 21st century in older males has revealed unusually high incidences of this type brain tissue latently appearing in growing numbers of males over the age of 40 years. At this time, there exist no research base statistics on this new male brain development. The frontal region of the female brain is only slightly showing new development for realization of wants versus needs. Current reports of ongoing studies of this region reveal the implications of some benign neuron activity appearing in females over the age of 30. Conclusive evidence has yet to be published, whereas the area the size of a middle finger located adjacent to the headache generator id the gold digging sensory that new studies reveal is shrinking in new generations of females in the 21st century. Another region the size of a dime located in the lower frontal lobe area of the female brain is the area stimulated by shiny things, diamonds, and particularly aligned with the female olfactory abilities. Again, this is an area typically not found in the male brain. Conversely, the female brain shows no development of the driving skills region of the brain located in the bottom rear area. The Facts about Beer New research reveals that the chemical make up of beer does have significant traces of female hormones. Testing this on men for reactions resulted in 100 volunteers consuming 12 pints of beer. One hundred percent of the volunteers gained unwanted weight. They also began talking incessantly without making any sense. On top of the mounting evidence of the impact of the identified female hormones on the males, consuming the beer was the rise in the emotional levels of the participant. Further research is pending. The differences in the brains of these two types of people, continues being studied for their gender based characteristics. Future studies hope to identify how these differences contribute to the ability of these two type people functioning as contributing members of the 21st century society.

Since the beginning of the social networking craze it seems that people have become more distant from one another due to their constant use of it. Even though social networking does allow us to connect and communicate a lot quicker than before, real face-to-face interaction with each other should be what remains most important for the way we socialize. With the constant use of social networking sites we are driven to stay indoors and glue our eyes onto the screens of our electronic devices. By staying indoors it doesn’t only keep us away from socializing with the real world but it can also affect our life in a negative way. Experts claim that if too much time is spent indoors with no face-to-face interaction, it may affect us both†¦show more content†¦At some points those involved in the online relationship may take it a step forward and actually meet in real life. People are not sure whether to consider this cheating because it isn’t anything physical, but as soon as things start becoming more serious, that’s when cheating is no longer in question. Over trusting people online all leads to a whole different argument about social networking. Those on the opposite side of the screen may not always turn out to be whom they claim to be. Since so much time is spent online, we begin to grow a bond with those we connect to. Some friends may be completely trustworthy because we know them personally, but in other cases we connect with complete strangers and we have no clue whether they are who they say they are. In the online world it is very simple to be a completely different person on any social networking site than you really are. In a current study that was conducted, it was known that fake users are managing approximately 8.7% of Facebook profiles. This doesn’t only put our life in danger but it can also put our identity at risk. There are spam profiles within that 8.7% and these profiles can easily steal one’s identity with a simple click, causing problems that can possibly last a lifetime. Every Grain of sand Essay Example For Students

Every Grain of sand Essay poem tells a story within its words, even if it is not directly stated. Nearly every word and phrase in a poem, and even its punctuation has a meaning and a message that the author is trying to send across to the reading or listening audience. Not always is it easy to immediately understand what the poet is trying to say, but within the words and punctuation, over time and with analysis, interpretation is possible. Poetry is a group of so many words that a poet carefully chooses to show certain meaning. The song Every Grain of Sand that is written by Bob Dylan deserves to be called poetry because of his careful use of tone, symbolism, allusion, simile and enjambments. Tone is an important part of poetry. It sets the mood of the piece and gives the audience a sense of what is going on and how the narrator feels. In Every Grain of Sand the tone is one of sadness and depression. There is a certain desperate tone in the poem, as the narrator looks for help in the hour of their deepest need. This is evident in the first and second lines of the first stanza when it is written In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need / When pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed. The time of confession sets a solemn tone, for when a person is confessing it is usually a quiet, personal, and regretful time. This sad emotion that the tone sets is further emphasized when the author uses words and phrases like sorrow of Night, violence, chill, bitter, loneliness and broken mirror of innocence. These all set a mood of sadness, anger, bitterness, hatred and darkness that the narrator feels in his hour of need, as they carry the burden, or the chains, of their past mistakes. Although most of the poem keeps with a sad tone, the tone shifts slightly. Line fifteen says Then onward on my journey I come to understand This line shows that he is slowly on his way, realizing things he perhaps did not at first. Symbolism is another important poetic device that is used throughout this poem. Ones entire understanding of the poem relies upon their understanding of the symbols applied. Bob Dylan uses symbolism on numerous occasions throughout his song Every Grain of Sand. In the line When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed,(1. 2) Dylan uses the flooding of the newborn seed to represent how the tears and sadness are drowning out the hope of a new start or of finding peace. The dyin voice within me (1. 3) represents this drowning hope that this person still has for a better life, even though there remains a feeling of despair, as it is said in line four. Dylan continues using nature in his symbolism in stanza 3, lines 9 and 10, Oh the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear, / Like Criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer. The flowers of indulgence represent the temptations in life drawing people to their beauty, while the weeds of yesteryear choking the breath of conscience and go od cheer represent the numbing effects of over indulgence. Things that once seemed to make life great have been used so much that, after a while, they are no longer fulfilling, leaving emptiness in a person. Even as the narrator realizes this, temptation still draws them in. I gaze into the doorway of temptations angry flame. / And every time I pass that way I always hear my name (4.13-14) shows this. The doorway represents an opportunity or a choice to follow a path that leads to an angry flame, which can represent evil and hell. The voices calling are the inner temptation that we all have for things that give us immediate satisfaction. Throughout the poem, Dylan uses symbols to represent God or a higher power. He refers to the sun as it beat down upon the steps of time to light the way to ease the pain of idleness .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc , .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .postImageUrl , .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc , .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:hover , .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:visited , .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:active { border:0!important; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:active , .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub716cd1e3ba4e91b44d88f1fc65517dc:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Exemplification Essay

Electro Magnetic Fields Essays - Electrical Engineering,

Electro Magnetic Fields Electricity is the building block of our society. Now more and more we are becoming dependent on electricity from computers to microwaves, electric power is what keeps our society running. Something that no one thinks about is Electro- Magnetic Fields or (ELF's). While these ELF are being ignored slowly they are becoming a silent but deadly killer in our society. Scene cancer and illness are becoming so common people are slowly coming around about what ELF's are and what if anything can be done to stop or slow down the effects of ELF's on our families and friends. Their maybe only few solutions to stop ELF's infiltration on our society and only one or two alternatives were found to slow the fields so they don't affect our health. " In 1995 leaked a draft report by American Scientific committee conducted that millions of people face an increased risk of cancer and other degenerative diseases from exposure to fields from power lines, power plants and electrical appliances."(Perry 1) With that quote we can see that this isn't a new issue to our society, but yet more people are clueless about the effect of electro- magnetic fields on their health and about the health of their children. The most common reaction of people when warned about ELF's is that " we live far enough from the power lines that it isn't going to affect us." This reaction is so common, but people don't realize that it's not just caused by power lines and power plants it's also inside our homes. The most common things in our homes are secondary causes not the power lines. Items such as microwaves, computer screens, toasters, electric stoves, blenders and cellular telephones. With these things in our homes are becoming so common that everyone has them and it affecting our lives. " In the last 10 years the rate of cancer is becoming the most common cause of death."(Perry 1) Though sunlight's Ultra Violet Rays (UV's) take the top spot for causing cancer ELF's are attributed to 35% to 40% of childhood cancers and 10% to 15% of adult cancer. Electric companies have a common reaction to these instances by denial. As we are becoming more dependant on electricity, power transmissions are entering our lives in greater strength. The power companies solution to the power demands is to increase the amount of high-voltage power lines. The reason for high-voltage lines is "over great distances high-voltage lines must be used in order to minimize losses, but in those losses it's causing an increasing amount of cancers and sickness due to the use of these high-voltage lines."(Plaz 229) This just shows the ignorance of the consumers ant greed of the power companies for not accepting the responsibility of protecting the people. In the sickness mentioned in the previous paragraph, what its called is "electrical sensitivity (ES)." "ES is a form of chronic environmental illness triggered by exposure to ELF's."(Perry 2) The symptoms are common among to days illnesses, but are or could be caused by ELF's. They are "headaches, dizziness, buzzing and nausea."(Perry 2) Everyone suffers from these ailments and if people you know suffer from these things, a look should be taken at their living space especially in children. Common areas that can be blamed is the kitchen due to all the appliances and the bedrooms near power lines or power plants. Though their are measures that can be taken to decrease these illnesses, but people are not informed to ELF's so no measures are taken. Children and pregnane women are the major concern for ELF's. The reason that children are susceptible to ELF's are their immune systems are not fully evolved and therefore their white blood cells are not at full composed. Not having a fully developed immune system leaves them open for the increased risk of cancer and ES. This was proven in a study done by the New York utility industry of power lines. "This a five million dollar project headed by Dr. David Carpenter of SUNY Albany concluded that up to 30% of all childhood cancers may be linked to ELF's"(Safe 1) In pregnane women another study done by independent lab's in the United States and Ontario Canada said that an "increase in cases of SIDS"(Perry 1) and"incidents of adverse reproductive outcomes and birth defects in newborns"(Ontario 1) are associated with high instances of ELF surroundings and in the homes. With all this proof I've found it's hard to imagine that no actions are being taken to reduce and stop

Prepare yourself for your upcoming internship

Prepare yourself for your upcoming internship Are you on the cusp of starting a new internship? If so, then congratulations- this can be an amazing opportunity for self-discovery and an important step in your lifelong career journey. Simply put, internships are great ways to explore your professional strengths and weaknesses, and can help you target your interests and passions- hopefully helping to guide you onto the career path that best suits you. That said, not all internships- or interns- are created equal. While some make every effort to put their best self forward and approach the internship as if it were an ultra-important full-time job, others take a less serious approach- and take a guess which type of intern typically fares better? That said, how have you decided to approach your upcoming internship? If you’re smart, you’ll prepare yourself in advance as much as possible in an effort to make a great impression. Who knows- if you really nail it, you just may find yourself weighing a great new job offer at the end of it!Consider using the following plan of attack to help ensure that your internship starts off strong.Do your homeworkBefore your first day at your new internship, make sure you know everything there is to know about the company you’re about to join. Most companies these days have a robust online presence, so take advantage of available information online. Not only will it help you do your job more effectively, it will likely impress the folks you’ll be working around. It may even serve as a springboard for bold new ideas that you can use to wow your new boss- and who knows what can happen from there? Also do your best to be fully aware of what your role in the organization will be, what will be expected of you from day one, and what your team or department does within the broader context of the organization (ideally, you used the interview process to have all of these questions answered). This will help reduce any awkward surprises on day one of your internsh ip, and also set you up to impress your new bosses when you’re able to hit the ground running when you first arrive.Know yourselfAs mentioned before, internships are a great way to learn about your strengths and weaknesses and discover what you’re interested in and good at. That said, you already know a great deal about yourself and can use what you know to your advantage at your new position. Make sure your strengths are on full display while at work. Are you a whiz at spreadsheets? Then do your best to set yourself up to work on any spreadsheets that your department utilizes. Have countless presentations in class made you a PowerPoint pro? Then volunteer to work on any PowerPoints that you discover are being worked on while at your internship. Not only will you come across as a team player who’s willing to go the extra mile, you’ll hopefully impress others with your abilities. In contrast, try to work on building your skills in your week areas subtly whi le at your internship. Take small opportunities to test yourself and confront new challenges- before long you’ll be more well-rounded and capable at work than ever before!Get professionalThis one often gets overlooked by interns, and they wind up paying the price when they arrive at work and aren’t completely ready. As such, subscribership began to drop as Netflix was not providing cost incentives to avoid brand defection by once loyal consumers. This led to media coverage that was very negative in which investor confidence began to fall, along with outlook for continuing subscribership and revenue growth, which plummeted the stock from $236 in September 2011 to only $66 in December 2011.
